Simulated Annealing as an Optimization Algorithm in the Automatic Modular Design of Control Software for Robot Swarms
Prior research has shown that the optimization algorithm can have great influence on the quality of the control software produced in the automatic modular design of control software for robot swarms. In this work we investigate, whether a stochastic local search metaheuristic---simulated annealing---can be used as the optimization algorithm in the automatic modular design of robot swarms. The results indicate that simulated annealing is indeed a viable candidate.
I am a PhD student at the IRIDIA lab at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. I have obtained a Master’s degree of Computer Science from the University of Paderborn, Germany. My research interests are swarm robotics, the automatic design of control software and metaheuristics.
